Site Induction

Pre-induction at YIT's Finnish construction sites

Everyone at YIT construction sites, including our own personnel, subcontractors and independent contractors, needs to participate in site inductions.

YIT’s online pre induction must be completed before arriving on site, and it is valid for 12 months. The validity is verified at the site.

YIT’s goal is to be a zero-accident working community

A safe workplace is built through shared responsibility, consistent safe working practices and the willingness to notice and address potential shortcomings – by looking after one another.

It is everyone’s right and obligation to receive induction for their work. Carefully prepared and conducted induction provides sufficient basic information about our tasks and the ability to work safely and prevents personal injuries and material and environmental damage. Induction also creates the preconditions for well-being and co-operation in the working community and environment.

Pre-induction at Finnish construction sites

Everyone working on a YIT site in Finland must complete YIT’s online pre‑induction before entering the site. On site, the induction continues with a site‑specific induction, a task‑specific safety plan and a site walk. The aim is to ensure a safe and smooth start and strengthen our shared operating culture. The online pre‑induction forms the foundation on which the site‑specific induction and site walk are built.

Our partners are responsible for ensuring and monitoring that their own employees have a valid Valttikortti and have completed the required pre‑induction before arriving at a YIT construction site.

As part of the induction, it is verified that the employee is legally entitled to work in Finland. To this end, the employee’s identity is checked and, where applicable, their residence permit is reviewed. The right to work in Finland is established either through citizenship of an EU/EEA Member State or through a residence permit issued by the Finnish authorities that explicitly grants the right to work in the duties concerned.

In addition, all workers must hold a valid Occupational Safety Card (issued by the Centre for Occupational Safety, TTK). Each employer is responsible for the qualifications and certificates of their own personnel. Please ensure you bring all required certificates with you when arriving on site.
