We create sustainable, functional and attractive cities and living environments.
We expect urbanisation to continue in spite of the digital leap and the increase in remote work caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Social encounters, cultural experiences and diverse services attract people to cities. As an urban developer, we strive for sustainable cities where the important services and functions of daily life can be reached in 15 minutes by walking, cycling or public transport.
We recognise that a highly functional city is a place where everyday life is safe, comfortable and convenient. It is an environment that provides good opportunities for smooth mobility of various kinds, especially for pedestrians. It is a 15-minute city, where the services you need on a daily basis are close to you and easy to reach.
We create porous cities where various functions are blended in a flexible manner. Housing, jobs, services, hobbies, mobility and attractive urban spaces are all connected to each other and close to the city’s residents. An appropriately dense urban structure enables a vibrant and diverse environment. Combining dense urban structures with good public transport connections protects the local nature of cities and makes it more accessible.
Our objective is to create urban environments that invite their users to spend time in them and enjoy life. A good urban environment includes comfortable and vibrant streets as well an element of surprise!

Every project is unique, but our extensive experience and multidisciplinary expertise enables us to carry out complex projects from idea generation all the way to the maintenance phase. Construction and renovation are only parts of a broader whole that can include project design and planning, participation in the creation of local detailed plans, the leasing of premises and finding investors. YIT also owns and maintains properties itself.
Examples of our projects currently in the development phase include the Tampere Travel and Service Centre (Finnpark area) and Keilaniemenranta in Espoo (Regenero).

Our completed urban development projects include Lauttis in Helsinki’s Lauttasaari district and Tripla in Helsinki’s Pasila district.
